Personal Statement
I am a co-founder and director at Mustard House Design, offering bespoke quality residential interior design services. I am also a BIID accredited interior designer with exstensive experience in the field.
My core competencies include design management, interior design, project management, master planning, and mentoring. I have successfully managed and coordinated the interior development and project management of the conversion of a historic building to a 150-room Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Vienna, as well as assisted the founders of Goddard Littlefair in the growth of the company, a leading hospitality design studio. I have a particular interest in mentoring and enjoy roles where I can contribute my extensive experience and expertise in design.

February 2020 – March 2021 - Goddard Littlefair (GL) – Senior Project Designer
I returned to work for GL in February of 2020 at the request of the owning company of the Mandarin Oriental, Vienna - having developed a good working relationship with them. My role was to head the GL team of 6 – 10 and advance development of the project from the initial design concepts through DD and onto Construction, whilst ensuring we worked within the tight Mandarin Oriental Design and Construction guidelines. Liaising closely with the project owners, operator and Directors of GL at all stages of the development.
There were significant planning issues to be resolved across the hotel, and significant design development that these changes required. Whilst the project wasn’t strictly a façade retention scheme, the level of demolition and complexity that this created in a listed monument, the challenges of marrying the building, owner and operator requirements were significant.
Jan 2017 – May 2019 | Design Director | Goddard Littlefair Ltd - London
A new role created in response to the demands of the growing studio from 45 in 2017 to 60+ present day staff. Assisting the founders in managing this growth, identifying and implementing systems and processes, whilst providing mentoring and guidance to all members of the company.
Main responsibilities include: RFP and legal coordination, fee proposal development, design cost management, design brief implementation, master planning, monitoring design development and overall project control through to completion. Design staff recruitment and ongoing staff requirement analysis. In addition to the daily management responsibilities, larger scale projects begin with me to manage and coordinate through the initial mobilisation period and continue through the various RIBA stages.
Major projects I overseeing oversaw:
• Intercontinental Hotel, Berlin - €60 million major refurbishment of rooms and public areas. Took over stalled project and navigated it through an extensive validation process to establish cost certainty. 1st area (ballroom and pre-function) about to be tendered for May start.
• Royal Horseguards Hotel, London - £40 million hotel repositioning refurbishment. Project leader on major pitch document and substantial validation process to gain cost certainty.
• Four Seasons Hotel, Tivat, Montenegro - extensive hotel and small coastal town development. Project leader from onset, co-ordinating the GL team of 18 people, across all departments, on fast track program.
• Four Seasons Hotel, Vienna, Austria - €150 million conversion of Vienna secession listed monument municipal court house. Initial project lead across all areas of the development within GL. Coordinating between joint venture partners, operator, consultants and in-house design team.

On returning to London, I joined Anita Rosato, a long-standing friend and colleague, to assist with the running of several large-scale projects.

The Goodman Group US based senior care home provider, 150 room residential home in Epsom. Value £40million. Project was in difficulty when I arrived due to an under estimation of the level of complexity of Building Information Management required. I steered the project through extremely turbulent times and eventually negotiated additional fees to enable the studio to complete the task.

During my 24 years with LRF Designer’s, I encountered all stages and aspects of a career in high end interior design from a drawn project development and management point of view. This included initial pitch concept creation and development, the overseeing of FF&E colleagues and eventual presentations to clients. As Managing Director at the newly formed London office, non-design related responsibilities included office management, recruitment, pitch development, fee and contract negotiations.
In the later years of my time with LRF back in HK, I was personally responsible for the design, development, operator coordination and the eventual building of projects such as:
